Application instruction

The condition for receiving a desired result is following directions for using the paint product and preparing the surface.

1. Surface preparation

The surface must be dry, thoroughly cleaned to a hard base surface from dust, dirt, mould, corrosion, oily and other contamination, and peeled paint coatings. Use mechanical (a scratcher, a wire brush), thermal (a hot air blower, infrared radiation), or chemical (paint-removing products) methods. You must avoid using cleaning methods that can damage the base surface.
Wooden surfaces must be polished manually or with mechanical equipment. Remove abrasive dust. If there are resin deposits on the wooden surface, they must be removed mechanically (with a spatula or a scratcher). If the wood is infected with blue stain, mould, or fungi, remove all infected areas: first mechanically, then treat the wood with antiseptics for wooden surfaces TM Farbex. Apparent defects on the surface must be equalized with plaster TM Farbex. Polish and then dust off the plastered surface. Wood humidity must be less than 20% before painting.
In case there are metal elements in a wooden construction, they must be coated with anticorrosion primer PF-010M TM Delfi.
Mineral surfaces must be hard, without fragile elements or edges. Elements made of plaster, stucco, or adhesive must be completely dry and ready for coating with solvent-based products. Remove all contamination thoroughly. You must remove efflorescence mechanically. Remove all parts infected with mould or fungi: first, mechanically, and then treat the surface with antiseptics for mineral surfaces TM Farbex. Apparent defects on the surface must be equalized with plaster TM Farbex. Polish and then dust off the plastered surface.
Hard coatings, which were applied before, must be polished and dusted off. It is necessary to get the best possible adhesion of paint products.
Before you use other products (primers, adhesives, antiseptics, and others), we recommend checking compatibility on a small area of the surface, following technical specialists’ recommendations and advice.

2. Priming

To provide maximal exploitation resistance of the coating, you should use for priming:

For wooden surfaces, use alkyd-based wood-protecting primer TM Maxima. ATTENTION! The primer raises the wood fibers, so you must polish the surface before applying any subsequent paint product.

For mineral surfaces, use a mixture of enamel and thinner in a 1:1 ratio.

3. Applying of finishing layer

Mix the enamel till homogeneous condition before use. If necessary, filter the enamel, dilute it with thinner TM DekART or odorless thinner TM Maxima to working viscosity (abnormal dilution reduces the resistance of the material to runs, retardation of the hardening).

To provide optimal properties, you must apply 2 coats on the surface. Apply a subsequent coat after 24 hours. To avoid deviation in color, we recommend using the product of the same batch. In case you use the product of different batches, mix them together.

Carry out works at the temperature of the air and working surface from +10 ºС to +35 ºС and relative air humidity less than 80%. During application and drying of the enamel, provide appropriate ventilation.

Remember! Mineral and wooden surfaces are porous materials; that is why the consumption of the product and quantity of coats can increase. A hint: To get the best possible exploitation properties of the coating, apply thin coats of floor enamel, but several times equal to collective consumption.

We recommend coating “from edge to edge” or within decorative elements without breaks. If you carry out works on large areas and/or during a long period, you must stir the enamel from time to time. We do not recommend keeping a container open.

Alkyd floor enamel PF-266 can be applied by the following methods

Tools must be recommended for solvent-based products.

If you use equipment for spraying application, you should follow the directions for exploitation.

If you use a roller, we recommend using a cuvette for homogeneous wetting by the product. We do not recommend using foam resin rollers. Attention! To make the coating smoother, we recommend using rollers with a shorter nap.

You must obtain painting skills for a quality result, especially if you use professional equipment.

A HINT: To make a life period of the coating longer and improve durability, we recommend applying alkyd-urethane parquet varnish TM Maxima or alkyd varnish PF-231 TM Farbex.

Compatibility with other coatings

Depending on the conditions of exploitation, you can use the enamel with different primers and finishing coatings. Examples of compatibility are given below. To get more detailed recommendations, call the specialists of POLYSAN.

Preceding coat – alkyd solvent-based products.

Subsequent coat – alkyd solvent-based products and acrylic water-based products.

We recommend testing the compatibility of the products on a small area of the surface.

4. Tool cleaning

Clean tools with a solvent and then with warm water with detergents if necessary.
