Application instruction

-

1. Surface preparation

The surface under application shall be dry (maximal humidity 20%), thoroughly cleaned from dirt, grease, dust, wax and polishing products.

Remove the loose pieces of old solvent-based varnish from the wooden floor and polish the surface till matt condition. The old coating shall be scraped for improving adhesion.

In the case of acrylic varnish, remove it completely from the wooden floor.

Polishing is performed in two steps. The surface is polished up with coarse-grained abrasive paper, then finished with fine-grained abrasive paper.

Defected surfaces (holes, rends, cracks) shall be filled with Putty for wood ТМ Farbex in a proper tinter. After that, the surface shall be polished up.

It is recommended to avoid methods of cleaning which can damage wood fibers (for example sandblast apparatus).

2. Priming

Previously coated wooden surfaces don’t require undercoating.

Previously uncoated wooden surfaces shall be undercoated with Wood-protective product "Base" TM Maxima.

Edges of wooden surfaces shall be treated more carefully until they are completely soaked.

3. Applying

Make sure that the undercoated surface is dry enough before applying a finishing layer.

Mix the varnish before application. If necessary, dilute it with a  solvent.

The next layer shall be applied not before the drying period of 24 hours.

It is recommended to polish intermediate layers lightly with small-grained sandpaper.

Do not apply the varnish in a fat layer.

Works shall be performed at air and surface temperature from +10 ºС to +35 ºС and relative humidity less than 80%.

The surface is ready for exploitation in 72 hours.

Complete hardening of the surface and obtaining of its properties is in 14 days.

4. Tool cleaning

Clean tools with a solvent and then with warm water and detergents if necessary.
