Specification

It creates a hard, wearproof and water-repellent matt coating that completely allows surfaces "to breathe". It is resistant to repeated washing (wet abrasion resistance - 2nd class according to DSTU EN 13300). It is easy to apply. It does not run and does not spray during application.

Sphere of application

It is intended for interior coating of all kinds of mineral surfaces (plaster, finishing plaster, brick, concrete), gypsum and wooden surfaces, wallpaper and fiberglass. It is recommended for initial and renovation coating of walls and ceilings in wet premises with high exploitation load: bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms, offices, medical, educational establishments, and spaces of catering and industrial enterprises.

Tinting

It is intended for use as a single white coating or can be tinted in pastel colors.
It is tinted manually with pigment concentrates Farbex Color, other water-based tinting pastes, or with tinting machines according to NCS color rate or others. If tinting with other colorants, tinting machines, or catalogs, you must do trial tinting and coating.
We recommend using the product of the same batch, both the paint and the colorant, for the finishing coat to avoid differences in color shades. The joint surfaces must also be coated with the product of the same batch. In case you use the product from different batches, you must mix it.
Make a test coating on a small area of the surface to check if the tinted paint meets your expectations.
We do not recommend diluting tinted paint for a finishing coat.
Some insignificant deviations in technical data for the product are allowed after tinting.
The hint: When you choose the color, consider the lighting in the premises. Warm or cold light can give a different perception of the same color.

Application instruction

The condition for receiving a desired result is following directions for using the paint product and preparing the surface.

1. Surface preparation

The surface is prepared according to DSTU-N B A.3.1-23:2013 and DSTU-N B B.2.6-212:2016.

The surface must be dry – the humidity of the surface on all stages of preparation and paint works must be less than 5% for cement and cement-sand surfaces and less than 1% for gypsum ones.

The surface must be clean from chalk and lime whitewashings, grease and oily stains, and other contaminations, efflorescence, dust (including abrasive dust after polishing plasters and stuccos), old paint products and wallpapers (which stick to the surface not secure), polymer adhesives, and runs of construction mortars or composites.

Mineral surfaces must be hard, without fragile parts or edges. The base materials like plaster, stucco, insulating or adhesive elements must be completely dry and be ready for priming and coating with acrylic water-based products.

Parts of the surface infected with mould or fungi must be removed: first mechanically and then treated with antiseptic for mineral surfaces TM Farbex.

Remove contaminations, infections, old coatings, or fragile parts with a wire brush, a spatula, a scratcher or with a polisher.

Correct appeared defects with Plaster TM Farbex (depending on the character of the defects).

Existing metal elements in the base surface or those that will be used after painting must be made of galvanized or stainless steel. When you use iron elements, they must be initially protected against corrosion with special primers or other products.

Check the compatibility of the products on a small area following technical recommendations or specialists’ consultation before you use other products (an adhesive, an antiseptic, a plaster, etc.).

Follow the directions precisely (especially drying period and subsequent treatment) when further priming and painting construction mortars or products. For example, fresh cement plasters must not be treated for 28 days.

2. Priming

To provide the maximum exploitation resistance and better decorative effect, depending on the type of surface, it must be primed:

Wooden porous surfaces  -  with acrylic wood-protective primer TM Maxima. Attention! The primer raises the wood fibers, that is why you must polish it before applying the paint.

Mineral surfaces - deep-penetrating acrylic primer TM Farbex.

Hard types of OSB, fiber boards, wood chip boards, wallpapers, and hard old paint coatings need no priming before coating. You must follow the directions according to the priming of construction mortars or materials. If necessary, call the specialists of POLYSAN.

3. Applying of finishing layer

Before applying the paint, make sure that the surface is dry enough after preparation.

The paint is ready to use. Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Filter it and dilute with water if necessary. Abnormal dilution spoils the quality of the coating!

Apply the paint in 1-2 coats. Apply a subsequent coat after 2 hours. The quantity of coats and paint consumption can increase on very porous, rough or highly contrasted surfaces. The precise consumption is determined by test application on a small area of the surface.

We recommend continuously applying in one direction with the same consumption. Carry out the application “from edge to edge (from corner to corner)” or within the limits of the decorative element without breaks. When you carry out an application on a large area and/or during a long period, we recommend stirring the paint from time to time. We do not recommend keeping the container with the paint open for a long period.

Carry out the application at the temperature of the air and the surface from + 5 ºС until +35 ºС and relative air humidity less than 80 % (the temperature of the surface must be 3 degrees above a dew point. Provide an appropriate ventilation when applying and drying the enamel.

The coating receive complete hardness and property to resist mechanical load after 28 days.

The tools must be recommended for water-based products.

When you apply with a roller, we recommend using a cuvette for homogeneous wetting the tool. Attention! For smoother coating we recommend using a roller with a short nap.

When you apply with by a spraying method, follow the instruction for exploitation. Airless spraying is more preferable. The reason is that when you use pneumatic spraying, you have to dilute the product and often diluting can be on the maximum recommended limit that can occur lessening thickness of the coating and creating of runs.

For a quality coating you must obtain painting skills, especially if use professional instrument.

Compatibility with other coatings

Depending on the exploitation conditions, it can be used with different primers and finishing coatings. The examples are stated further. Call the specialists of POLYSAN to receive more detailed recommendations.

Previous coating – acrylic water-based products.

Subsequent coating – acrylic water-based products.

Compatibility of products is recommended for testing on a small area of the surface.

4. Tool cleaning

Clean tools after application with water. Do not let them dry. Remove mechanically spots of dry paint.
